Default B5 S4 Front Brakes upgrade

Has anyone tried to put front Calipers/Rotors from a B6 or B7 S4 on B5?
I am looking for cheap upgrade on my car, not really in the mood of spending $2-3K on big brake kits from Stoptech, Porsche and Alcons. They all great but cost $$$ and have issues with cracking or high maintenance cost. On the other hand, B6 uses 345mm rotors which are a lot better than 322 on B5. Do not really care about looks. So the question is, has anyone done a swap? Are they direct bolt on change, or some adaptors/work has to be put in?
Thanks in advance.

yep id go for it.. 345 and just see if they fit... line adapters.. caliper size with wheel adaptation.. blue or not and see about the bolt restrictors.. it could mean so much more enhancement... but not efficiency ... ultra premium rotors possible.. 4 wheel disc.. no drums for the rear..

IMO skip, replace OEM brakes with OEM brakes 2 years newer? Naw, ours arent THAT bad.

If you want an upgrade get some lighter slotted rotors (like DBA, JHM, Adams infamous, etc etc theres tons of nice ones out there), stainless steel lines, more agressive pads, and a good fluid. You can also get a 300mm rear rotor and bracket for the stock caliper (same agressive pads and SS lines) from either 034 or JHM. This "stage 1" brake upgrade really does make a pretty good difference.

B7 RS4 brakes might be worth it....I know thats been done before.

Id either just spiff up the stockers (they arent huge but theyre only bad if you do repeater hard high-speed braking like on a track, b6/b7 would be just as poor on a track) or save for a BBK. Ovbiously Alcons are like the holy grail on brakes, but the porsche based kits arent bad.

JHM is supposed to be working on a Porsche caliper based BBK for their lightweight 2 piece 345mm disc for the new S4's. This is what im waiting for... though i would love to blow $4000 on alcons, i cant afford that ****

i've been looking into whole thing for a while, picking brains of people with BBK's and mechanics. here is what i have found out:
Brembo>Alcoan>Stoptech>Porsche
Brembo - $$$$$
Alcoan - $$$$ plus has bad side effect of pads knocking after pedal release. knock (stop) knock (when released).
Stoptech - $$$ not bad, bud had some issues with calipers cracking. Rotors $600. and likes any BBK needs servicing every year... $$.
Porsche - $$$. not bad, butmostly for show.

regarding rear upgrade - u can not do it unless u do front BBK. otherwise u will unsettle brake balance, and provoking a chance of spin out if u hit brakes hard mid corner at decent speed.

Braking is 80% pad, 20% rotor. u can go better pad (as i do). on my last track event on my Stage 1 S4 i was maxing out Hawks HP+ (700 degrees after 25 minute session) and i am not an aggressive driver. this year i am stage 2+, so i am going HT-10 or HP Blue (1000 degrees). now i am pushing rotors to the max as well. simple rule is, bigger the rotor slower it heats up. simple law of physics, the bigger the size, the more degrees it can absorb. think who can heat up faster, small frying pan or large? for braking u need rotors that heat up slower, meaning larger area.

u have to also understand that better pads will kill rotors a lot faster. i am sure if u ask people with BBK's, their rotors last about 10-12 days on the track. Audi S4 is a front heavy car and puts lots of strain on rotors. Stage 3 S4 kills pads in about 6 days tops. so figure out $600 for rotors and $400 for pads (2 sets) a year for an average driver. also u have to service your calipers every year, change rings, clean, etc... that is also costs labor... brake flushing every year. in NY area, shops specializing in performance upgrades charge $90/hour labor. add that in as well...

simple upgrade to B6 S4 calipers rotors give performance similar to Porsche kits for a fraction of a price. 345mm is not enough for 3,900 lbs B6 S4, but for 3,650 B5 is very good. with rotors going for $160-180 for pair, and not "servicing" required, u save lots of $$$.... that is why i am asking if anyone did it, and whether any manufacturing needed to fit them in.

PS: as far as rotors, all that Slotted/cross drilled stuff is crap. with a harder pads they slotted vibrate so much that is it impossible to drive unless they heat up to temperatures u only achieve on track. any rotor after couple of track events becomes uneven, and all those slots create vibration and noise even if u go back to street pad. i had a set of those rotors, had to change after 8 month. cross drilled are prone to crack faster, plus wholes decrease contact area of the rotor, so not much gain over plain surface. slightly more cooling vs less area to absorb temperature.
plain rotors are the way to go. screw the looks.

that rear brake kit fits with the original caliper?
cause i got a 98 A8 quattro with small rear disc and front Ksport 13" with 8 pots, that's just perfect. but the rear i would like a good 11" ventilated. does the kit JHM do does fit A8 98 ??cause if it does i would like to buy one
