Default B5 S4 suspension questions

I have just bought a 2000 S4, and I was gving it good cleaning today. I noticed that the front of that car was sitting about an inch higher then the back. I also have a question abut the S4 shocks. What type oem shocks are on a S4? I attempted to take look at the shocks. The only thing I could tell is that they were yellow and springs where black, which is probably typical. Are thestocks shocks yellow on the S4 or do you think they are aftermaket shocks?[/align]

Sounds like you have Koni shocks on there. Stock ones are Red. Not sure who makes them, my guess is Sachs.

How much do you want to spend? Bang for the buck is Votlangs, then on the high end Penske, or Ohlins.

After further investigation, they are Bilstein shocks. Is there any way to figure out how old they are? The ride of the car is very tight with no bounce right now. Would it possible to just get some lowering springs?

Ha, yes, there yellow also, but usually have a blue band on them that says "Bilstein"

Anyway, you should be able to put just springs on them. But my guess is you have the HD ones, & not the sport ones. Basically there the same, just the Sport ones are slightly shorter to work better with lowering springs.

Cool thanks,
I also noticed that there are blueSamco TBB and intercooler hoses under the hood. I also checked the ECU. But I did not see any flash or chip stickers on it. Thanks for the info.
