Default Bad Chip?

My S4 hasn’t started for quite some tiem now and I have tested pretty much everything for the car, when the car is tested the error code comes back for the ECU. I sent out the ECU to be tested and it came back fine, but they couldn’t test the performance chip that was added on. The chip was added on by the previous owner so I don’t know what brand it is.
Is my best solution to just get a new APR or GIAC chip for my tested in good condition ECU? Please help me get my car running! Thanks for any help

Can you remove the chip? Or swap in a stock ECU and see if the car runs.

Are you sure your fuel pump didn't STB?

Fuel Pump Turns on and seems to be working fine that was my first instinct. among many other fuel related parts. I sent out the ECU to be tested and it came back working fine but they couldnt test the chip. So I am now led to believe that my chip has gone bad. But I am not 100%. I could remove the chip and make a swap but I dont have the stock ECU laying around, any other suggestions as to what my next move could be would be greatly appreciated.

Know any S4 owners locally you could swap ecu's with to see if the car starts?

Unfortunetly I have only seen a handful of B5 S4's around me... When an S4 is chipped do they take out a part of the ECU to put in the new ECU? If the chip is removed from the ECU is it viable to determine the maker of that chip? Can I take the Chip out and put something in its place to make it work or go back to stock? Again, thanks for the help and suggestions

Most now are flashed. You can solder in a new chip. Not sure how to tell who manufactured it. If you have a soldered in chip but don't have the stock one to solder back in your stuck. Who tested the ECU? How can it test good and they can't read the chip? Makes no sense to me.

I'd be in the market for a used ECU if I was you.

I know it really doesn't make sEnse to me either. And i don't have the original chip the previous owner does whoever he is. So I'm pretty much sol n stuck? Only option is new/ used Ecu? How do I ensure the next ecu can simply be plugged n and go. Get same box h or m? Also any suggestions as to where to find an ecu, forums?
