Could be a torn TBB also. If the DV is bad they usually tear the internal seal and just leak boost. I can not hear any kind of dump sounds on my A6 2.7T.

Since we have an internally recirculating system, you should not hear any blow-off noise whatsoever. Having said that, I agree with Frost that you may have a tear in your TTB which is basically soft rubber. You should check this out immediately as this tear can cause adverse effects on your turbos..

I am getting the APR TTB and Forge 007 diverter valves installed next week which, with the APR upgrade, should make for a solid combination. It's not really a performance upgrade as it is piece of mind.

I guess that is likely - how many miles do you have on your S4?
I have about 42K on mine and have never heard any noises - either way, going to the Forge diverter valves would be a sound investment.
I bought them at ECS Tuning.com and they were around $130 a piece. Install will be around $70.

Is there a aftermarket DV i can buy to get the traditional BOV sound and not hurt the engine?

No, the only dv's that will make a BOV sound are BOVs.... What you can do is get a new intake that goes into your stock air box, the ndrill a few holes in the air box. There will be a sucking noise through the holes as you shift, which will be somewhat like a BOV sound.

But I agree, in a few days im getting a Samco TBB, and forge Diverter Valves, Eurostyleseast.com is having a sale on the forge dv's, either 120 or 130 depending on what model you get, and they each come with clamps, 2 shims, and 3 tuning springs as well, good deal if you ask me.

there was a thread over on fourtitude about that, someone said that they got it and their car started to run like s*it. That may be an exxageration, but they said that even if ur just losing a little air, its still putting too rich of a mixture into your engine which isnt too great for it, but that would be your best choice to go with.
