Bad Diverter Valve?
ok on a bone stock system u will not hear any kind of bov sound at all but soon as u slap on a open filter (short ram or cold air intake system) u should here a sound similar to a bov not as loud but still a cool bov sound or atleast that is what happened to mine. u cannot run a bov on the audi or vdubs because of the sensors that send a message to the ecu that tells the engine how to run and overall causeing the car to run rich resulting in backfires and stalling of the motor. however u can convert ur engine from a recirculating system to an atmospheric disscharge system. the low whoosh sound is vary noticeable when u open up the intake
i dont know sooo much that i agree with it.. i mean no, your not going to hear a bov sound.. but on mine (maybe stage 3 i can hear it more) but there is somewhat of a release... but not all that audible.. mostly hear it when near a median to get an echo. it just doesnt sound like its expelled into the atmosphere.
Mine does the samething. And now I can hear the boost leak when I drive down the road. Where is the TBB? and what else should I check? I dont know much about the engine so can anyone point me in the right direction
I don't know too much about the S4's, since I just got one about 2 days ago. But for a lot of other cars, that put on BOV's near the MAF, there can be issues.
The BOV obviously releases air to atmosphere that has already been taken into consideration by the MAF, so the ECU is telling the injectors to inject that much fuel for that measured amount of AIR. If you dump off that air before reaching the cylinders, you are running less air, therefore RICH!!. Accelerations are typically OK, but if you dump the valve, and then stop at a light, cars tend to die from being too pig rich.
The diverter valves or Recirc valves release to relieve the pressure in the intake piping (aka preventing reversion on the turbos), and put that already calculated air back into the intake, so the correct amount of fuel is being used still, letting the car run just fine.
This happens to many turbo imports. Mine wasn't as bad because i put it right before the TB, while more stick it right after the MAF. Not sure on this explaination, but it happens. lol.
Suggestion: You are not a HONDA that needs to show-off that you are Turbo'd, therefore, stick to the Bypass/Diverter/Recirc Valves.
I hope I didn't **** people off with my very first post. lol.

I found out that mine is the TTB. I have to go to Greenville SC right now to get one. I called one place and they said it would cost me 53 bucks and the would have to order it. But I called greenville and they had it for 25 in stock. Cant beat that. I will post later after i replace it to see if the swoosh noise when you shift is defantly the TTB or not.
