Default bad times for B5 S4, any help appreciated

Hi guys, had an accident with my S4 a few weeks back and finally recieved my car back from the shop (an overall horrible experience, but I'll leave that long story out), a few hours after picking it up and about 40 miles of driving the engine sputtered and stalled as I shifted into 3rd gear. I was unable to get the car running again and after checking things over discovered that my oil was very low. Hoping that perhaps the car's computer was shutting the engine down to prevent damage due to low oil I walked down the street and and bought some oil. It took almost 4 qts to get the oil level back to where it should be and the car would now start up and idle, however whenever giving it gas it would rev up for a bit and then sputter struggling to maintain RPMs (this is while in neutral), and I am unable to get it rolling in first gear. There seems to be some black smoke coming out the tail pipe during revving. There was a slight burning smell, which may have been my clutch since I was trying to get her rolling and had the RPMs high and riding the cluth. Also the computer is not throwing any warnings. Anyways the car was towed back to the shop and hopefully I will have a diagnosis sometime tommorow. I wondered what you guys thought. I just find it weird that the car ran fine and then just died with no symptoms leading up to it, the lack of oil is strange too, I would love to blame the shop for not putting oil back in it, but that would seem unlikely, especially since it ran for about 40 miles. Oh I should mention that in the accident I rear ended somone and aside from the radiator and a couple pullys and I believe a water pump all the damage was to the hood, bumper, and lights. A friend of mine suggested that it could be an issue with the fuel filter, injectors, or possibly the PCV valve. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My first instinct would be to call the shop that performed the work. It's obviously something they did or didn't do. Make them sweat over it that's why you paid for them to work on it in the first place right? Anyways, it sounds like maybe something is diconnected, a sensor or a loose hose maybe.

oh yeah the shop did not do something right or forgot something not to mimick RED but make them fix it and fix it for free! Hmmm no oil and not revving crap that could be anything maybe they messed up an oil line or its connection and you are losing oil and have no pressure?

I had it towed back to the shop and raised hell, hopefully they will be able to determine what it is on Monday morning. I'll go into greater detail about their other f'ups later, thanks guys!

Well, thought I would give you guys an update on the car. Turns out they didn't put a hose clamp back on one of the intake hoses, who knows about the oil thing. Bottom line I had a lot of trouble with this shop for what was only supposed to be some simple body work, its amazing how much they fucked up, but thats a whole long story. Now to surf the forum and see if I can't figure out what would make a weird almost cricket like sound on my car. Thanks guys.
