BIG NEWS on my S4.

Mid life crisis?
Mid life crisis?
In January, I went to the Porsche dealership. I was interested in a convertible 911 or the Boxster. (No flaming about the Boxster please - I just wanted to see the convertible offerings of Porsche.)
I was not impressed with the performance; I've been spoiled by my S4. Oh well.
But now the story gets better....
I decided that, if I was going to get a convertible, I should consider a convertible for its open air value and not the "go" value.
Then I remembered my childhood, growing up with my father's sports cars. He had friends with Porsches, Maseratis, Austin Healeys, and Triumphs. His collection included an Austin Healey and two Triumphs. (Even though I was a naive young child, I really liked the Triumphs during those years.) So I recently directed my attention to the possibility of collecting Triumphs. And two weeks ago, I began the collection. I'm pretty excited about the new purchase.
Wanna know what it is?
i propose calling it the yellow dart.
were u not impressed w/ the straight line? u shouldn't be w. a boxster. once u realize that u can take a turn at roughly the same speed u are at. (depending on the turn of course) u will love it. my dad has a 996 911. unbeliveable on a track. ricers and what nots that can take him in a straight line have to reduce speed so much on corners that kills them and pops just crushes. porsches are ultimate driving machines imo.

Straight line performance was on par or less than my S4. Certainly Porsches have great cornering at speed, but my S4 has plenty of cornering capability at speed, too. {Quattro!} I'm satisfied with that aspect.
i used to have a '57 MGA 1500 Roadster with an MGB 1800 motor dropped in there....those cars are works of art...i'm a big fan of british sports cars....Imola, you probably already know this, but Moss Motors is one of the best sites i've seen for parts for these cars....so what kind of triumph did you get? if it's the tr2, i think i may fall in love with you....
I too love older British sports cars. I have rebuilt three mid 60's~early 70's MGB's. One (my favorite) was an IMSA car used in the late 70's. We found out the car had been garaged after bending a few valves, the owner pulled the head and then lost interest (found another race car). We have also had two Morris Minors, one being right hand drive, still with British glass!
Good luck with the Triumph and please post some pics.

I don't think I will ever want to go beyond the level of performance that I have right now. Like I said, I'm satisfied with the performance - it's plenty.
BTW: Why would you say Lotus Elise?????

Well, I don't want you falling in love with me bentframe!!!
I turned down an offer to buy a TR2 last month. I was at an auction and the price skyrocketed. I had my limit and the auction passed my limit quickly. It was a concours level show car in red. Very nice, but the auctioneer over-valued the vehicle and somebody else paid too much for it. It was worth about 20K, but the hammer fell on almost twice that!!
Regardless, I will still be trying to add that model to my collection.
Here's my wish list:
TR2
TR3
TR4
and the lovable Herald.
I'm not interested in nor do I want any Spitfires, GT-6's, TR6's, TR7's or TR8's
So what did I get?............
A 1948 Triumph Roadster in white.
Here's a link with great pics:
Triumph Roadster - red.

i would hope you wouldn't want to buy a fully restored one, even if it was a decent price..restoring them is the best part of owning them...although, the driving part is right up there....
