very true. This makes changing wheels a pain too. you get the rotor in line, keep the wheel off the caliper, and since it is so big it hits the rim as you are putting it on and takes it out of line so you are fishing for threads haha. I happen to have solved that problem and made wheels swaps a breeze. I baught 2 extra studs, cut the heads off, thread them in one or two threads and slide the wheel on. Put a couple studs back in and take them out. Works great.
Joshtruction - thats a good idea of yours with the extra studs - I need to do that...
OK - I'm going with stoptechs. My mechanic seems to think I could fit a 6 piston caliper on 355" rotors under my 17" winter wheels (Audi A4 sport replicas from Achtuning)....but stopteach seems to recommend the 332 (13") for 17s...and I have a feeling that I'll have to settle for the 4 piston rather then 6 (probably fine...considering the extra cost and my likley usage - primarily street with maybe an occasional track day). I printed out some templates and will likely cut them out and check my wheels tommorow...
Anyway - looking for anyone with any experience with the stoptechs with 17" wheels - even better with the A4 sport wheels. Also looking for brake pad recs...I'm also considering going with the Audi TT rear caliper ug that ECS tuning has advertised (every other day or something...can't always seem to find it...) and am considering rollbars. The Hotchkis seem to be a nice (large & adjustable) set...anyone with any experience or recommendations? Should I do front and back or just the rears?

Well like i said before i run the 332mm stoptechs under my stock 17" wheels. And they barely clear. i cant imagine that a 355 would fit cause i cant clear by more than a couple mm. They are good brakes and for your application i would think youre more than fine. i have a little discrepancy with mine right now that im not very happy about.. im getting a pretty bad squeak under light braking. im on about 50-60% life on the pad.. and im pretty sure that is what the problem is.. i dont know if it got glazed over or is just an odd compound or what but its annoying..i should get something new.
As for sway bars. id recommend the h&r's. ive heard nothing but positive things and i plan to do this soon.

Saw these pretty serious brakes upgrades on Audiworld, might help to answer some question

Yea my stoptech's are squeaking once I get under 5mph no matter how hard or soft I brake. Only if I slam on the brakes from 40mph does it stop, but it only lasts a few hours of driving before it starts squeaking again. Stoptech wasnt very helpful, and the shop that put them on checked them all over and said everything was fine, it must just be the pads. I'm going to replace them in the next week so I will know if that is the case.
yep...same thing..ive had them looked at twice and they say it all looks good... just the pads... so let me know what you go with and what the results are.. What i find odd though is that they didnt use to squeak..just started happening. So i dont know as the pad gets lower if its getting to a different compound, or if somethign happened to the pad or there was some sort of glazing. or what
The pads they use are a harder compound that are meant to minimize brake dust and give you better stopping power, but being harder means they tend to squeak, at least thats how the tech put it to me. "I'll def. keep you updated.
Well that is the way that i understand it too... But what i dont get is that they didnt initially squeak for awhile.. and its gotten worse.. its almost like the compound later on in the pad is different...
