I just ordered 4 slotted & drilled, zinc platted dics, sets of Mitex red pads.
a power bleeder and a caliper tool for 650 $ shipping included from
ECS tuning. I will have a nice week end job on the way ! It might
give you an idea of how $$ you will have to spend. For a big brake kit
it's going to co$t you a lot more. You can triple what it cost me.
It depends what you want !

I'd ask what's your budget AND where do you want to go with the car.

You can have the biggest budget in the world, but if you drive 10 miles each way to school/work, why upgrade something like brakes? If you plan on doing bigger and better things, and have the money, go all out.

i feel that the s4 has great rotors stock. unless you're going to be doing some very hardcore serious driving on the track, just stick with what you got if it's all good. getting a really decent pair of pads will cost you a bit extra but will save you a ton than if you got a complete brake kit.

WELL... if you can convince your dad to let you get a big break kit.. Your probably best bang for the buck is the stoptech set. These will run you between 2-3k.. So that would be sweet if you could swing that.. but note that clearance on wheels is tough. Ive found this out as im trying to buy no wheels and i pretty much needed at least a 2 piece forged wheel to clear them. Otherwise.. just get a set of good pads like mentioned before.

yeah sooks is right. if you do want to upgrade your brakes. the stoptech company is the best IMO. let us know what you decide on

yikes..looks like you have some costly stuff cmoing up.. If it were me..with not exactly unlimited funds..i would probably hold off on the brakes esp since youre basically going to be tearing apart your tranny for the synchro and is pricey to have done.. and the y pipe aint cheap either. Id say for now just go wiht some good pads.. do some reviews on different pads see what youre looking for interms of stopping power vs squeak/break dust/wear... and what will fit your needs. Cause a big break kit is cool.. but it does create issues with wheel clearance as well as it aint cheap.

Let me know if you have any questions.
