Default breaks and decal question

ok, no picking on the new guy.

I'm getting a used 2005 S4 Cabriolet, and am putting these on it:

I don't know much about cars, but I usually see performance cars with holes in the whatever the circular part the break squeezes is called. I said no making fun of! So a. what is that part called. B. What are some good brands

Next, I like the red break "pads" (I guess). Again, brand please.

Thanks!!

p.s.
I want to get rid of the TSW center cap. What's the easiest way to replace it with an audi one. Someone had mentioned stickers. Is that right?

lol! youre hilarious. in a good way.

Alright. the circular thing that some people have holes in or slots or both is called the rotor. good brands would be brembo, adams rotrs, power slot, etc.

the thing you refer to as pads that you want in red are calipers. between the calipers is the brake pad. the red caliper you are talking about is probably an upgraded brembo or stoptech one.

what you are ultimately looking for is a big brake kit. this consists of larger rotors(slotted/drilled), larger calipers(more pistons), stainless steele lbrake lines(to replace your rubber ones), upgraded pads, and brake fluid(motul).

try checking out JHM. they do alot for your car.

Also try ECS:

youre lookin' for a setup like this?

About the center cap i think ecs sells the audi centers. email them and see if that would work. i wouldnt want to put stickers on my wheels.

p.s. those are some heavy *** wheels!

Alright, rotors, calipers pads, got it. ty for the "breaks 101" lesson.

Yes, the picture that you sent is along the line of what I'd be looking for. Not that I'm going to go racing this car or anything, but it looks kinda sick.

Also, ty for th ECS link; found some center caps there that look like they are going to do the job.

Heavy wheels? what? where? good? bad?

no problem. i love the way a bbk (big brake kit) looks behind your wheels. just remember the rotors that come on a bbk are waaay more expensive to replace than standard sized rotors. i would definitely contact JHM and ask there opinion on what to get. they do ALOT of work on the v8 s4's and have great products.

TSW wheels are notorious for being craaazy heavy. usually you want to get lighter, forged wheels when going for a performance setup. if youre just going for a sick looking car then theyre fine. what size are they? height/width?

i see. Yeah, I won't be racing, just wanted something that looks nice. i talked to one of the companies online, and they said:"if you're not racing the car, why not just paint your existing caliper"

sure. you can go that route. just get your same rotors in a slotted or cross-drilled pattern and paint the calipers. adams rotors is a good place to buy from.

i'd throw in some stainless brake lines and hawk pads if you wanna crisp up your brake response on the cheap. just my .02.

also drilled (holes)rotors sometimes have cracking issues, resulting in more frequent rotor changes. slotted rotors reduce the life of your pads slightly. i have slotted and love them. i think they look better too.

If you aren't planning on racing, I would highly recommend for cost sake to just purchase some high temperature brake caliper paint from your local Advance or Napa. Just Make sure you clean them off really well with some brake cleaner and if you want sand them down with some 300 grit. It takes a few coats but in the end it looks great, also check out these decals you can clear on, really adds the finishing touch i think.

those really do add a great touch. How are those applied? (edit: looks like they are just stickers. do they last?)

Just as you would paint the caliper with red high temp paint.. put the decal on the painted caliper and add a coat of clear hight temp paint Should last as long as your paint on the caliper does.
