I have an oil burning smell and I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and both cam adjuster seals so the tension seal is most likely the problem.
Can anyone tell me how much $$ it would be to replace a Cam Tensioner seal by an Audi shop on a B5 S4? Also anymore information about the tensioner seal, like is there more than 1? Is that the problem? Could it be anything else?
Thanks for any input you may have!

There is one cam tensioner seal per head. if you want to diy, I'd recomend getting a cam tensioner tool to remove the tension so you can wiggle the old seal out. there are 4 torx bolts that hold the tensioner down, 3 of which go through the seal.
make sure to clean the sealing surface before installing the new seal.
It is relatively simple to do, and you don't have to mess up your timing to do it.

Thanks for the reply! How long do you think it would take to replace it?

Start to finish one to two hours to do just one if you have never done it, would be my guess.

I just got quoted 2,000 in labor because they said they would have to remove the cam shafts to replace the gaskets. Another 270 for timing belt as it will already be off. I'm don't know a whole lot about our engines but can follow instructions well, I am debating trying to do this job myself... What do you all think? Any suggestions are welcome. 01 s4 tip

You're getting bent. Follow a DIY for changing the cam tensioner - it's not terribly hard and the instructions are written up well.

Get yourself a bentley manual as well. All the tq specs and many other good bits of info, like how many chain rollers between the cam sprockets, ect...
2000$ for just the cam tensioner seals?

lol, not quite. Here you can find a whole valve cover reseal kit for 90 with the cam tensioner seals... I'm sure if you look around you can find just the cam seals for about $20
