On my way home from work my car starts shuddering when I give it gas. The check engine light flashed on and then went off right away. It also shudders a bit when idling. I don't have a vag-com and don't know anyone with one so I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. I will probably bring it to the shop right away, but should I drive it or tow it?

I only have a 15 minute drive and this did not happen until the last two miles. I wasn't even beating on it as it was raining out.

 

sounds like a coil pack to me.

can u get the codes read? vagcom or u can borrow an OBDII scanner at
like autozone etc...

 

I cant get my hands on a vag and I don't think AutoZone lends them out. Don't they just scan it for you if you go there?

Coil Pack hard to replace?

 

coil packs are not hard at all to replace they basically snap in with a clip on the top where the wire attaches and you have two bolts per coil pack then push them down in the hole. oh as well as all the plastic covers, but if you know which one is misfiring which is what your problem is, then maybe 5-10 min
