Ashort throwwont ruin the transmission, bad shifting will, oh and not disengaging the clutch. The shifter itself does not determine what gear the trans goes into, more the path it takes to get there. The shorter the overall height of the shifter causes the driver to exert more force on it and this may have some effect on it. But the B5's have weak 1st and 2nd gears anyhow and are known for grenading. Anyways ive got a UUC now and its a piece of crap. Thinking about picking up JB's this spring when the S comes back on the road. It's just me, but i dont trust cheap parts, i paid too much for the car to pinch pennies when im modding it. but thats just me.
