If I completely drain the whole cooling system, is there any reason why I couldn't fill the car with cheaper and easier to find Dex-Cool or standard Ethylene Glycol?

no dex cool that is strictly a gm coolant it will eat the parts in you're cooling system. just go to the dealer ship and get some audi **** its only 5 bucks more and its not mixed 50/50 yet so for 1 gallon you really get to for the price of one

 

I'll pick some up next time I head downtown by the dealership.
