Question Coolant leaking

Hello, I just noticed that the my coolant level is below minimum. Which may be contributing to my heater not blowing hot air problem.

I tried to see where the leaking comes from but being in my work clothes, I can't really get under the car to check so I have not spotted where it comes from.

Are there any known issues with B5 s4's and coolant leaking?
Thanks

There are several coolant related issues. It would be best if you remove the plastic cover underneath and see if the leak is in front of the engine or behind. The auxiliary water pump is a common issue. Look at my threads and you will find one with pictures of the pump and its location.

Did you end up replacing the aux pump? What did it cost you and was it straight forward?
Do you have to bleed the cooling system as well?
THank you.

Yes, I replaced the aux pump. I got the pump (~$130) and gaskets (~$30) from ECS. Then I bought a bunch a different-size clamps (~$8) from HomeDepot.

There is a DIY guide at AudiWorld (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1585786.phtml).

It is a straight forward procedure (~3.5 hours if you know what you are doing) but you have be careful with the numerous hoses and cables. The pump is "plug & play." Getting to the pump is challenging.

You do not have to bleed the system. "The new pump has 2 caps that you can use to reduce coolant spillage during the swap out."
