Disappointed!
I dont think the sound is from the gearbox it sounds like its from the linkage.
I will leave the car with Audi next week and see what they say. It might be something wrong. I have only driven it 1100km.

what are the rpms when you shift? if i don't have it up to at least 3500, i klunk from 1st to 2nd. usually only have to shift lower in crap loads of traffic or really narrow village streets or suffer jerking around in 1st when you move the throttle. just turn up the bose. for everyday driving, i shift this thing around 4000. and what exactly are you experiencing with the esp? are you trying to launch or as you are driving through tight corners? it shouldn't be noticeable unless you are really pushing it in a turn and i'm talking about hairpins not just curves, or slip on oily roads during rain.
I'd agree with the "unfair comparison" statements. It's not a sports car, just a fast and fun sedan. I like the balance of luxury items (like the Bose and nav system) along with the big V8 and good handling (for what it is), and the ability to drive my family around. Sign me up along with the folks that would like a job with your company, or just be your gf.
my friends in germany can relate to the tax and hate me for what i paid for my car. so anyway, you did't answer the question. where do you shift? and if you did shift below 3500 did it help to shift higher and if not, what did your mechanic say? and do you turn off esp? that helps can you turn yours in for a sedan,or the real deal, an avant[&:] grocery getter or not, i love the look of the avant and as i've said would only replace it if the rs was offered in avant in the states.
