Hi im new to the forum. And im looking to buy a 201.5-2002 S4 or 2001 or 02 TT 225. Im 27 and have had two E46 M3's but unfortuntly both where totaled within 6 months. I love the car and would take it all day over any Audi out there but can't afford the insurance for a third run with another M3. I want to know generallywhat it takes to get the TT to 290-300HP and how much. Also im thinkin about the S4 but the style is a little dated it looks old for a 2002 that is why im considering the TT. Finally what does it take to beat A stock or slightly modded M3 with a 2001-02 S4. Thanks a lot maybe il change my mind on Audi vs. BMW after i give the s or tt a try. Also any insight on the TT or S4 compared to a M3 would be great thanks.

 

Before I jump all over your case for the two totalled M3's, could you tell us how they happened?

The first one was side swiped by a ford f150 that didnt yield, $28K in damages it was a carbon black '01 that lastd just 13 days. I almost killed the guy because the car was immaculate. Then with the settlement check I bought a jet black 01 that was totaled on Rt. 80 in Fort Lee last Friday because I was going around a bend doing about 60 and the car hydroplaned and hit the concrete wall $22k+ in damages after i had it for 5 months. I miss them both as they where by far the best car i have every driven for under $80k. Don't get me wrong Audis are real nice cars but a E46 M3 vs an older S4 in my opinion no comparison plus turbos=$$$$$$. Thanks for askin no one was hurt in either. My real question is how much $$ is it going to take to get a TT to around 5sec 0-60 or around 300 HP Im leaning towards the TT based soley on looks. Thanks for any input because im new to Audis especially the TT n S4.

 

chip and dv's on the s4 and your very happy, m3's stock dont touch a chipped s4, why dont you like the b5 body style? looks sexy sleek and a hell of a lot cleaner than most cars. tt's are fun, but the 225 is the same as a 180 motor just kind of "factory chipped" better exhaust and some componentry. with a new turbo, chip, dv, exhaust, and other components for turbo, the TT will be a beast, very very mucho bueno. definitly beating 5 sec 0-60. low 13's in the 1/4 with a modest turbo kit, you can do better tho.

 

Why would insurance be cheaper on an s4 than on an m3? There both sports cars and with two wrecks on your record. Either or is gonna be expensive. Im glad nobody was injured in your accidents.

 

Thanks for the input. I know my insurance is goin to be high. I was told a four door is cheaper than a coupe thats y i said that bout the S4 and M3. Basically i have 20K to spend on the car and hav 5K to spend on upgrades. I just like the style of the TT. Being that im new can u tell me what upgrades are most beneficial for the $5K budget. I dont track just like a fast reliable daily drivercar.

 

for 5k, TBB, DV's, Cat back, Chip, Downpipes, IC's, and maybe a few other small things should bring u up to about 5k
