Default extending o2 sensors

havent' been under my car in a while. i have been saving up money, but i think im going to order piggie pipes this week. On some forums people say to buy vasts extended o2 sensors. and then some people said they simply cut the cables and extended them...
I have all the right materials for electrical cables is it possible for me to do it without spending 200$ on extended cables?

I have done a little eletrical work and your best bet is to us heat wrap just make sure you get the rightsize for the wire thats on the o2, caus if you dont then you wont seal to well
