Hello,

I have a 96' A4 Quattro, 5spd V-6 and I finally figured out where my oil leak was coming from. Now I'm trying to figure out whether I'm looking to replace a plug or seal, or an entire cam position sensor. I can see the one on the driver's side just fine, is there a second one on the passenger side just below the oil valve gasket cover?

It almost looks like there should be TWO cam sensors and one is missing.

 

There's one for each bank. The passenger side sensor is on the front under the timing cover. The driver side sensor is on the back of the head.

 

There are ring seals on both cams (on each bank, in your case) on the front and the half-moon one at the back (again, each bank for you). Not sure why you say you have a link so you're thinking of replacing the cam positioning sensor?

Also, what the heck is a cam "plug"?
