Default feel of clutch petal

So, i was driving my bros car (subby sti) and i went to push in his clutch and damn it is alot less then mine. now i bought this car about a month ago and it is really some force to get it to the floor. at a long light it is very hard to hold it the whole time if i try, now maybe i am just dumb but are all s4's like this with the clutch. cause when ever i get in to any other car i can really feel the difference. thanks for any help.

Mine feels the same way. Seems that you need more than average force to push it down. I mean it's not the hardest to depress out of the cars I've driven ( the russian make Moskvich you had to hit the clutch pedal with a sledge hammer for it to do anything).

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but isn't it bad for the clutch cylinders to hold it down for a long time like at a light? I always shift into nuetral.
In the mean time start doing calf excercises such as supporting your weight on just your left toes and hopping up and down.

never a good idea to leave the clutch petal pressed in when sitting at a light or waiting for something... although "legally" you are supposed to have the car in gear at ALL times.

It can be the car to some degree but most of the time it depends on what clutch you have in there whether it be OEM or Aftermarket.

It is always good when stopping a lot either in traffic or at a light to come to a stop and put it in neutral. NEVER set with your clutch engaged!!!!

Look for an aftermarket Clutch and see if it says how stiff it is compared to stock.

Hope this helps guys,

Adam~

The S4 clutch just has a stronger pressure plate than a subaru, you gotta think that the engine on the audi is larger, has more torque, uses a larger flywheel, and over all has more rotating mass which means it needs more force applied to the clutch to keep it from slipping hence its gonna have a harder clutch feel.
Plus its really not that tough do some squats or something.

I find that the last inch or so of travel takes ALOT of force, so I either, A, dont push it the last bit down, or B, take it out of gear at the light. We have such long lights around here I almost always take it out of gear.

Haha, I drove my GFs TSX 60 miles back to a friends house from a casino one night to drop him off and pick up my car. What is funny is that I didn't do so well driving my S4 home from there because the clutch on the TSX is so light and quick, and it took all of 10 mins to get the feel back for the S4 clutch... I should mention that my car was sitting outside all night on a very cool evening too, so it was that much worse.

Just think of what an RS4 clutch upgrade must feel like.
