Default filthy pistons

Aside from my newly-found idle issues, I happen to notice some serious "cakage" on the tops of my pistons while change plugs. There were a couple cylinders that you could see some spots of shiny alum. here and there, but most of them had a good layer of black/brown carbon deposit all over.

I just had my CTS replaced not too long ago, which most likely cause all this, but now I'd really like to clean it out. Is there some product out there (i.e. injector cleaner, Seafoam, etc.) that will break that up and clean it out? If I have to have a shop or the dealer do it, I will, but I'm not sure what's the best way.

Thanks.

if you have lots of miles on your car this could be pretty normal.... could even create a higher compression rate, lol

just be sure to check/ change your oil when ever needed...

yeah, um... 18k here(guess I should've mentioned that).I'm gonna try a 2 or 3-stage cleaning, starting with a bottle ofSeafoam, then maybe an SPT or something, and then a Lucas Oil Injector Cleaner (spread over three seperate tanks). I figure one isn't gonna do it all, so I might as well spend $15-20 and increase my chances...

Is this over kill? I'm not gonna mess up something, am I?

Normal. If you have been running rich due to a bad CTS, there will be even more.
