Finally find out my performance problem
Good morning all,
I bought my 2001.5 B5 S4 a year ago now, at first i was pleased with the car
and beleave it was fast. But my mech blew my balloon after test driving it. He told
me that other customer's A6 was running stronger then my S4. So my quest to figure
out what the problem was had begun. So far that is what i've found out:
Change plugs
Change air filter for K&N unit
Change EGT sensor (random misfires codes showing)
Change MAF sensor + discover worn wires at the terminal
Find out DV's where installed incorrectly
Find out Both Y hose (connect to DV's and intake) had crack in them
Change water temp sensor
After doing all of the above a wasn't able to get more then 7 psi of boost and still searching...
Yesterday, I was about to install a new N75 Valve and then found something strange.
2 hoses coming from turbo go's into a y connector and then go's into one hose that connect
to the N75 Valve. The 2 hoses from the same turbo where connected togheter at the Y and
then go's into one that connect to the N75, same thing on both side's. I found it really strange,
so i did little research and find out that the 2 hoses from exhaust side of the turbo need to get
togheter as one and then to N75, same thing for the intake side hoses. Atfer reconnect proper
hoses at the right places, i went for a road test. WOW ! 21 psi senttling down to approx 16psi
what a difference !!! Im an happy men now.
Neither my mech nor the audi dealer was able to help me on my performance problems.
Dealer told me that my turbo were dead and my mech couldn't find out what was happenning.
Seem like a poor mech work on my car before i own it ! Im posting this tread for info, it might
help somebody else !
Thanks for this useful forum, it help me when the usual way doesn't work out !
