Default Good deal or not?

2008 S4 6mt, pretty basic, brand new...not a demo.
msrp $55,235.00

We can get her for $44,000.00, plus 2.9% financing.

I think this is a smokin deal. My wife want's convincing.

What are your opinions?

Dealers want to sell so that would explain the price cut, probably as good as your gonna get for a NEW s4. B8's should hit dealerships this fall, so maybe prices will fall further if they still cant sell the old cars by later this summer. With the economy the way it is theres some serious deals to be had. Id find a used RS4 for a little more money though

2.9%, great. over 11 grand off, great. Sometimes some people don’t know a good deal even when its parked in their driveway.

Heres what you do. Tried and proven to work ive done this more then once

Wait till your wife goes to work, you go to the dealer, tell em “I need to sleep on it” make give you the car for a “test drive” for the weekend or night. When your wife comes home and sees it in the driveway tell her you bought it. Take as much abuse from her as long as you can, keep holding out. tell her “ I already bought it theres nothing I can do now” blab la bla. Don’t give in, go to bed pissed off at eachother for a night or 2, (im sure it wouldn’t be the first time) if you get it for the weekend sorry, man but it might be an ugly weekend, get her in the car as much as possible errands ect.. When she wakes up on the last day one of 2 things will happen…

1 the good) she has cooled off and is now used to the idea. Tell her “thank you babe for understanding” give her a hug and a kiss, when she goes to work. You go to the dealer sign the papers and pick up some flowers on the way home.

Or

2 the bad) she’s still fuming and bitching. And you guys arnt talking. When she goes to work, return the car tell em you will be back in a day or 2 to pick it up. When she comes home she will see its not there. Now its your turn to be pissed. Guilt trip the **** out of her. Until she gives in.

End, you got an S4

Good luck man !

Yesmar, never, ever become a marriage counselor.

Demon, that sounds like a good deal, but I agree that getting something slightly used is going to be a WAY better deal. I saw a Mercedes SL550 for 53K. New, they're 110K. It only had about 25K miles.

yeah i know... it works for me and my relationship

i worked with an auto mech. guy he said buying a NEW car is one of the biggest wast of money, i sort of agree, but if i had the money, it would be NICE to be the first and only owner of a new car .

Dude Im in the "Never ever ever ever buy a new car" club. Sure that is a great deal on the new car, and some people can only buy new cars, due to their risk tolerance. If that is the boat you are in than go for it for sure.

Otherwise............Now is the time to buy used!

I got my 2005 S4 w/ 50k miles on it....for $17,500!!!!!!! $52,000 price originally paid for it.

Thanks for all the responses! She doesn't need me to sneak it home it's gonna be her ride anyway. She just smells blood in the water and wants more more more (money off) I kinda sorta wanted to buy a used B7, but I lean towards a new car when it's of the performance nature. And I also realize it is not as smart financially...but it works for us.

I just also learned today that the 2008's have been "punched" meaning in effect Audi and the banks consider it a used car. Also meaning the warranty has started ticking (11-01-08). Looks like the price is gonna need to come down a bit more now.
