HELP!! Check Engine Light...
I am having some serious issues with my '02 S4 2.7L. The CEL comes on intermittently when I go in the mountains or up hills, etc. I took it into the Audi dealer (under extended warranty) and had it diagnosed. The service guy told me that the CEL was coming up with "Turbo valve failure" and something about "Fuel trimming." He told me I needed to replace both valves, which I did, and went on my way. Not 100 miles later and it came on again! Then went off, and is now back on (not blinking). I also have been smelling an acrid, almost burnt rubber kind of smell...
Any help would be great!

i may be totally off here because i dont have a lot of experience but burnt rubber could be your timing belt, if your car is an 02 and you havnt had it replaced yet with average mileage i would say thats a good possibility.
You might be smelling a bit of burning oil from leaky valve cover gaskets, unless it specifically smells like rubber not burnt oil. Mine will be done soon and have that smell the odd time from inside the car, and I have heard of this as well.
However, the engine code should probably be addressed first, perhaps try goingsomewhere else to have it checked.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. I called the audi dealer that I went to before and he is going to hook it up tomorrow and see what codes it's throwing up now. I will post them as soon as I know.
P.S. I just had to replace my transmission pan and it was $363 dollars everywhere I went...Does anyone know where to get Audi parts for less?

$363 for a pan or is that with labor? The pan is probably 90 bucks, then you have 30 minutes labor and re-use the old fluid unless it's bad. Damn dealers are a rip off.
How did that pan get damaged? Did you hit a boulder in the road?

I swear they charged me $363 JUST FOR THE PAN! I went 3 different places and the part was 363 everywhere I went, and that was without labor. Total it was around 900 bucks to fix the entire transmission. I needed a new pan, gasket, filter, and oil...and labor... Maybe they just think they can rip me off because I live in Cali and am a chick? I don't really know.. As for the other...I swear to God I don't know what I hit to do that kind of damage. The only thing I ever hit in that car was a cement parking block...
I have since learned that I can't mess anything up on my Audi otherwise it will cost me an arm and a leg... I'm slightly irritated right now too because the CEL went back off this morning so I can't have them plug it in to check it.

Ha i ran over a cement parking spot in the rainwith my mustang once...it only popped the emergency fuel switch.....guess i was lucky.....as to your question like robo said it could be your timing is off so under a load like a hill it would probably almost die out...does it do it during normal driving?
I think you guys might be right about the timing being off...except that it doesn't seem to stop coming on when I'm in the city street driving either. I came back into town from the hills in Santa Cruz and it went off for like a day, then it came back on this morning on the freeway. I am going in again today because the service tech. said to bring it in anyways (regardless if the light is on)...I'll def. keep you guys posted and let you know tonight the codes my car is throwing up. All I can say is...thank God for my extended warranty!
