Help, did something stupid!
Hi everyone,
I am in the process of stripping out my b6 s4 for track use. I go to take out the rear seat back, and notice a wire coming out of it. I tried to get it out, but it didn't budge. In the end I just cut the wire, which now seems like a dumb thing to have done. Also had to cut the seat belt, but I'm stripping out the car so that hardly matters. However, the air bag light is now on. My car does not have rear side airbags, just the curtains. Do I have to worry about the air bags going off while driving now? Is there any way I can disconnect the air bags permanently or make sure they never come on during normal operation? I don't care about that air bag light, just want to know how to make the car safe to drive.
EDIT: Looks like I cut the airbag sensor wire. Yikes!!! I found the yellow connector and disconnected it.The airbag warning light is still on however. I don't care about the light, but is it OK to drive it with the connector unplugged? I'm thinking of putting some insulation tape over it. Does anyone have an idea of how much this would cost to fix?
Thanks!

ive had two connectors unplugged and nothing has happened with the airbags. to my knowledge, the light comes on due to malfunction; in order for them to go off, it must have a full connection before it senses whether to deploy the air bag or not (don't quote me on that though).
our cars are equiped with weight sensors in every seat. it is a continuous conection through you air bag control module since you cut that wire i am guessing it is the continuous string through the airbags and now its not reading. this is only my guess im not 100% sure
