Help with a sound(video included)
110k miles, PO said the timing belt was changed around 100k but this sound is coming from the front of the engine. it doesnt do it all the time but most of the time especially after been drivin around for a long time. it increases with the speed of the engine but doesnt get louder. the oil was just changed. its hard to tell in the video but on top of the pprrrrrrrrr of the regular engine noise its the blub blub blub blub blub sound..

you can kind of hear it the best once my camera kinda passes by the driver side headlight. its a really fast blub sound. almost if you were to but some rubber bouncy ***** into a coffee can and shake it at the same rpm as the engine. idk thats the best way i could think to describe it
i also just bought one of those mechanic stethoscopes but its been raining all day so im not in the mood to mess with it but when i do ill try and pin point it better but i just know its coming from the front of the engine
Drive the car up the speed and put it on neutral or shut off the engine and listen , if the sound it's there you can pin pint faster , bearings, tires, drive shaft ,,, CV joint .. and do same steering left and right see if noise is increasing.
May be your electrical fan unit. My 02 s4 was making a similar noise, especially after driving for a while and then turning the engine off, you could here it wind down. And that was the cause. If you can, use pair of needle nose or similar tool and grab a hold of one of the blades and see if it seems loose to you. Thats the same thing the tech did to mine while I watched. If thats the issue is about 250 for a brand new unit, with prolly like 2 or maybe more hours of labor.
Does it sound like a diesel? My car used to make a noise similar to the one I think you're trying to describe. I used to think it was my auxiliary fan but I for some reason changed my power steering pump and the noise went away. I don't know if this helps but figured I'd give you another option.
you know my power steering makes a squeaking noise everytime i make a sharp turn at low speed. i changed the fluid and it went away for about 2 days then came back so i wonder if the pump is shot. it does almost sound like a desiel makin me think it might have been the timing belt bearing like another guy on here posted about. is there a way to figure out for sure if the pump is making the sound? i just got out of eye surgery so i really dont want to be working on my car this weekend since i cant see 100% yet but if im feelin up for it tomorrow i just want to dive in and know exactly what to look for..
