Help with symptoms
ok a week or so ago i posted on the scraping sound in my engine, i took it to the audi dealer and they said they didn't think it was the water pump (which was what was sugested) and they werent sure.
My symptoms are this
1. when i come to a stop or let it idle i watch the rpms kick up to around 1,100 to 1,200 rpms and bounce around in there.
2. Outside of the car there is a LOUD scraping noise that doesn't stop. It is audible with the hood closed and continues to make this noise even when accelerating.
This problem with my car has me really concerned seeing as im afraid something big is gunna brake if i keep letting it do this, is there a difinitive problem that this would be?

Thank god i finally found the problem i'm surprised the audi techs didn't know... my dad walked out to look at it again we took the engine covers off and the noise was unbearable he started pulling on the dv's and the noise went away, it seems the hose wasn't tight and was causing a boost leak... so thats fixed. And the previous owner said he did the timing belt water pump btw. But it got me thinking again when i shift at like 2-4k rpms i hear a quick burst of air sound, its not quite a woosh like iv heard from boost leaks but more a quick release of air. Its done it since iv bought it and when i went to install 710n's i found i had aluminum after-market dv's with no markings on them so i kept them, they dont look like hybrids but ya think that might have to do with that noise?
