Default Hi

Getting an S4 in a week (2002 Silver Avant Tip 52K). Tiptronic was not my first choice, but the deal was great (cheaper than a 325XiT I was also looking at that had about the same year/mileage).

Here's what I'd like to get for it:
GIAC Tip Chip
APR ECU Chip
Maybe an exhaust at some point in the future
Zaino!

I have a couple of questions for users here,

Where/how does the tip chip get installed?

What's the quietest exhaust you know of? I've heard milltek and neuspeed make some nice ones, any others?

Is a new set of brake pads a good idea? Is the brake dust problem really that bad?

Thanks everyone.

1. I would get the GIAC chip and the Tip chip rather than the APR chip; this way you have no chance of handshake failure and loss of communication. It might not happen with an APR mix, but if you encounter any problems, that will be the first thing a tuner will suspect.
2. I don't know EXACTLY where the tip chip goes since I don't have an auto tranny. Why worry about that?
3. Milltek and Neuspeed are the quietest exhausts that I know. There are others, but they are considerably louder: APR, AWE, UUC, etc.
4. The dust is a big problem. Mintex Red Box are the common upgrade. Others will provide more bite, but they have more metal, which will lead to squeal and dust.

I hate my mintex red box. Mine put off so much dust! I do have slotted rotors though.
