Hi guys. New here and looking for 00/01 S4!
The B5 S4 has long been my dream car. I love the quattro and of course the bi-turbo.
Currently, I own a 2004 e46 M3 with the following mods:
TCK S/A 500/500 coilovers
Powerflex FCAB
Powerflex RTAB
Turner Rear Subframe Reinforcement
Turner Rear Camber Arms
Turner Wheel Studs
Rogue Engineering 10mm Spacers
Rogue Engineering Transmission Mounts
GSP Clutch Pedal
CDV Delete
Autosolutions 30% SSK
Motul RBF600
Stasis Alcon Mono6 365mm & Mono4 343mm
Ferodo DS2500 - Street
Ferodo DS3000 - Track
Eurosport Design SS Exhaust Tips
OEM CSL Alcantra Steering Wheel
OEM CSL Alcantra E Handle
OEM Euro Front Bumper
TFX Xenon Retrofit
I track the ///M during the season and while it still makes for a relatively good daily driver, I am considering a more civilized or "street-friendly" car. As much as I love the ///M3, it wasn't meant for winter driving and doesn't handle chicago's pothole-filled roads very well. And, since the B5 S4 has become very affordable, I want one!
My initial plans for modifying the S4 consist of a K04 upgrade and other goodies. I love the way the oem RS4 bumper looks also. Although a little unrealistic, I would kill for a white S4 to match the ///M. As far as my taste goes, I love this one:

I read some of the FAQs and stickies, which answered most of my questions. That said, does anybody know what a stock b5 s4 weighs in at?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to becoming a proud S4 owner and ultimately contributing to the community
BTW, here are a few photos of the ///M:

Very nice m3!
That imola belonged to 2ks4, when he totaled it he left the forums. I miss him, he knew alot about the car and contributed even more around here
His bumper is an OEM S4 bumper with modified grills, it turned out GREAT imo. He had one of the cleanest cars on here
I believe the S4 is around 3800 lbs. Im sure youll love it if you get one.
The B5 was available in Casablanca white which is similar to your BMW, and also Pearl white which is more creamy. If you search around a little you might find one

that M3 is dope but ya you're right..not a suitable car for winter with the RWD. Just be ready to spend some cash right off the bat cuz it gets pretty expensive as you know im sure. Make sure when you buy your S4 you find out if the timing belt has been serviced or not cuz that should be your number one priority. If it hasnt been serviced, I would get it done asap. If that T-belt snaps, you are pretty much screwed. You would probably have to replace the heads and valvetrain if that happend and well that will cost probably around 7 grand after all is said and done. Better to be safe than sorry bro.
ah i miss my bmw. definitely a great car. i've have the s4 since november as it too was my dream car. i love it. just make sure you find an s4 with good turbos cuz they are also pretty expensive to replace
I actually stumbled across the website and saw it!
In the sticky, 2k S4 states the following:
Yes, you can JUST put on K04's. But if want max HP, you need the whole thing, fueling, intake, IC's, turbo back exhaust. Everything must work from air filter, to the tip of the exhaust.
I guess I'm trying to do it "right" and replace the vital components during the upgrade. Then again, I'd like to keep the cost down as much as possible. Realistically speaking, I'm not looking to turn this car into a 500hp beast. My goal is to keep it as civil and reliable as possible, which may or may not go hand in hand with the K04. Then again, I'd love the extra kick of say another 80-100 hp. I realize that any significant hp increase will impact reliability to some degree. That said, I'm looking to keep the car as street-friendly as possible.
And yes, I've contradicted myself several times, but I'm open to suggestions
very nice M3 i am a s4 owner had it since birth....."birth of the car that is".....good luck with your build on one and have fun with it they are one of my favorite cars and i will alsways have one in my drive way
If you're looking to do it right with just the bare essentials here is my suggestion. K04's are the most reliable, for the most power you can get. I know people who have put well over 70k miles on their K04 set up and clutch and trans with no drive train problems. I personally like the VAST fueling kit, they are also the more well known shop in the Mid West (in the Detroit area, Ferndale). Their website might help you with some of your questions. To build the car right you will have to do a clutch/flywheel(resurfaced is the cheapest), fueling, intercoolers, downpipes or piggies, the trans rebuild will be eventually needed but maybe not at first, a minimum of a free flowing cat back exhaust if not no cats and just exhaust, and obviously K04's. with all of that you will have a guaranteed 380-400 AWHP car that is either in the low 12's to even the low 11's depending on how far you go with goodies and your tune. Another thing is, while you're looking for an S4 pay attention to the miles and if they have had the timing belt and water pump changed. If its over 60,000 its a safe bet to say that you have about 20,000 miles where that stuff could go, after 75,000-80,000 its almost inevitable.
I hope this helps. I don't think I have left anything out, guys let me know if I have.
