It depends on what you're looking for. The B5 (2000-2002) is popular because of it's "potential" as some call it. It is relatively easy to modify and, for a german car relatively cheap. The B5 S4 is the best bang for your buck audi on the market right now, and you are a 24-26 MPG car (some claim more). If you are a person who wants a nicer interior or the simplicity of a N/A quick car the B6 or B7 S4/S5 is the car to have. If you are looking at those you should look to spend, on average $10,000-$15,000 more and you will have a car that gets 17-19 mpg (70mph driving). They are wonderful cars, I haven't seen my car in months due to it being re-painted and I miss it more than anything, almost too much [].

I know people who have put well over 70k miles on their K04 set up and clutch and trans with no drive train problems. I personally like the VAST fueling kit, they are also the more well known shop in the Mid West (in the Detroit area, Ferndale). Their website might help you with some of your questions. To build the car right you will have to do a clutch/flywheel(resurfaced is the cheapest), fueling, intercoolers, downpipes or piggies, the trans rebuild will be eventually needed but maybe not at first, a minimum of a free flowing cat back exhaust if not no cats and just exhaust, and obviously K04's. with all of that you will have a guaranteed 380-400 AWHP car that is either in the low 12's to even the low 11's depending on how far you go with goodies and your tune. Another thing is, while you're looking for an S4 pay attention to the miles and if they have had the timing belt and water pump changed. If its over 60,000 its a safe bet to say that you have about 20,000 miles where that stuff could go, after 75,000-80,000 its almost inevitable.
I hope this helps. I don't think I have left anything out, guys let me know if I have.
Wow, thank you!
