I am selling my car and looking to buy an S4. After doing some decent research I've decided the 2001.5 is what I'm looking for, but need a foolproof way to tell between the 2001 and 2001.5. Best I could find by searching the forums is that the rear badge is bigger, but I'd like something more solid like the VIN (mostly because a friend of mine runs car auctions and will be doing the looking for me). you can just tell by teh insignia in teh back you do not need the vin to know if it is a 2001.5 teh 2001.5 has teh same s4 sign as teh new ones. teh big red parallelogram and the S in it.

 

The reason I ask this is because I'm interested in buying a de-badged S4, so I obviously am unable to tell if it's a 2001.5 by looking at the badge... any other way?

 

look at the steering wheel and the dash. they will also have the "S4" symbol to tell if it's a 2001 or a 2001.5
