wish I could have done mine right, its the only thing I have worked on my car and jacked up. Our car is supposed to be measured at 14 point something for timing I was at 17.3 haha. Congrats, I know how bad that job makes you sweat.

I just finished mine 2 weekends ago did it in a small garage with no special parts in about 15 hours with the help of some fellow afer's and you don't need all those tools just pay attention and mark everything.

I had to edit this and say I think anybody who performs this type of surgery and completes it no matter the duration is in need of some recognition because we all know how hard and stressful this can be. Anyway nice work on completing the TB job and I do agree Blauparts had the best deal and great service, I would definately recommend them to anyone.

The kit took only 2 days to get to my house i was shocked. and the kit i recieved had a total cost of 263. adn yes you dont need the tool kit if you are very careful i double checked even with the cam locking bar with a razor blade just make some tick marks on the gears and the belt then match the old belt with the new one. make one tick on the timing gear 2 on one of the cam gears and 3 on the other. p.s. the timing gear "if stock" has red paint on one of the tooths and on the block thats another tdc mark. but i alos did this in a small garrage and it sucks but if your paitent and you keep track of everything then your fine good luck to anyone who is about to do this and congrats to anyone who did.

i did a tb on mine a 2 weekends ago as well. no big deal. i'd say it only took me a good 10hrs. i did have some previous experiance on a 1.8t which helped. i got the kit ultamate plus kit from ecs it was 350 plus shipping. i did not get the cam locking tool. if you can rent one great but don't spend theextra 100to getthe ecs one. you can make one yourself for probably 20 bucks. one good way to make sure you got the belt on right is:
1.mark one tooth oneach cam grear and on the crank gear
2. mark which valleythe tooth is in
3. transfer the marks to the new belt
4. put the new belt on
5. line up the marks

that way you know you have it excatly the same as before
