Just purchased 01 S4
He's got it right, the TBB (throttle body boot) and the F-hose are major problems after longterm use with your car. (because they are made of thin-wall rubber) They can lead to turbo failure, but mostly just a loss in boost. The first thing I would go for is either beef up those parts, and maybe go for a SAMCO hose kit. Its runs about 300-400 bucks (US). Then look into GIAC chip upgrade and boost controller/ turbo timer to untap your engines potential. Then get into exhaust and some of your fuel system, all that plus tuning should run you near 2K. Then you are looking at a turbo upgrade! Happy tuning! For some good info, go to www.s4biturbo.com, its all there in black and white.

I agree w/ everyone - upgrade all the regular stuff ie: DV's (710ns are fine...)
f-hose, TBB, etc... + timing belt water pump etc... depending on mileage...

Yeah it can be a bit of a rude shock when u buy a B5 S4 and all u wont is more go - but u got do the maintaince 1st and get it sorted
Ive spent over $1,700 just on repairs + maintainece
Over $ 1,300 on tyres
This is all on a very low mileage car 2 and am now ready to chip + exhuast
