Default K04 help please!

I will be replacing my stock K03's on my 2001.5 S4 avant in the next month. I am on the hunt for a K04 upgrade. There are a ton of no name K04 turbos on ebay but they make me nervous!
Can anyone that has had personal experience with a aftermarket K04 kit send me some info or a link?
As you all know its allot of money to pull the motor and I don't want to have to do it again in a year or two!

Thanks allot

stick with borg warner k04's. DON'T GET ANY CHINESE TURBOS!!!! i purchased mine awhile back from avalon motorsports. you can purchase them from alot of places like JHM, 034, vast or cts.

http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalo...37f28ad852c360

http://www.034motorsport.com/

http://www.ctsturbo.com/index.php?p=home

http://www.vastperformance.com/

i have bought products from all these places except cts, but i have heard good things about them and there fueling parts prices. give vast or 034 a call and they can more than help you piece together a kit. you might even get into some other turbos. gt28's, tial 605's or 770's, RS6's, gt35r's, etc.

call up EPL and get a price on their TiAL 605 kit. nominal costs over k04's and a better than RS6 push to redline..

http://www.eplabs.net/products/vag/t...0-bolt-on-kit/

.. oh.. and yeah.. .DO NOT BUY CHINESE OR EBAY TURBOS. ...

and if you do, do not post on here later about them not working right and blowing something up...

i got ebay k04's... the install went smooth... they idled for 15 min, got up to temperature and then their real quality was revealed with white smoke out the exhaust. I would suggest the tial 605 kit from epl as well... i want them

Thanks everyone for your reply's and I am glad I was not to impulsive by purchasing a no name brand K04 set.

I have found a guy who is selling his complete motor here where I live for $3500 . The motor has 92,000 on it (25k less than mine). All the mods/upgrades were done at 50k. Here is what the motor has on it

K04 turbos Borg warner
Ko4 intake piping
Rs4 intercoolers and piping
Arp solid bipipe
Piggie downpipes
Rs4 cylinder heads and cams
8 .lbs lightened flywheel
Rs4 clutch
Mtm stage 3
Arp upgraded snub mount
Forge diverter valves

Its a turn key motor. I met the guy last eve, took the car out for a ride, super fast and sounded great. Monday eve we will meet with my mechanic and if he give's me the thumbs up then I will just go with this.

Please let me know what you all think

Thanks again and happy new year

Yes, The motor will come with the tuned ecu and the timing belt was done at 50k. I will do the belt & pump again since i will be easily accessible during the installation. He did say the timing belt was replaced by a non breakable belt but I will probably change it anyway for piece of mind.

unbreakable timing belt, huh? i'm guessing its a gates belt, but i could be wrong. do you know what kind of belt it is? sounds interesting.

anyways, what company did the tune on the ecu? is it mtm? also if you want to take full advantage of the stage 3 setup you really should look into fueling.
