Finally got my K04's installed and the car driving (installed myself with help from a mechanic at work on the motor pull) and if anyone was still unsure, K04's work perfectly normal on an otherwise stock motor. Wish I had the money to bolt up new manifolds and down pipes but it just wasn't in the cards. Now to start saving for the full stage 3 setup!

Onto the question, how long is recommended to go easy on the turbos until they are broken in?

 

There is no such thing as a "break-in period" for turbos.
