yea i loved mine for the first year when nothing ever broke and it was stage 1. now that im stage 2+ its falling apart. ugh.

100k miles is nothing for a german car. the typical break in is at about that supposedly. it is a pretty awesome car and if you get it over 100k miles then the tb should have been done. thats the only really expensive repair that is inevitable, other than that they do just fine stock.

Ok so far the turbos, tb, and water pump are some pretty common repairs for an 01 S4.

Now if I do get an S4 and chip it, could I manage the boost at about 15psi? What is stock? I don't need power, especially if it's avoiding major repairs. I just really like the idea of an AWD sedan that looks good.

I'll look around for an 01.5, maybe dish out a few bucks. I would rather pay more for the car upfront then have to pay for repairs right around the corner.

stock psi is 10-12, chipped is typically 17 psi or so and yes it should do fine with that. its when you start to open up the breathing that things start to get rough. but also remember when you chip it you should upgrade your dv's and tbb(around $100 for the 3 of them).

Default I'm in the same boat!!!!

I am looking at a 2001 S4 with 98,000 miles and has K04 turbos with a bigger intercooler. (stage 3 it states) Supposidly 500 hp. The mods were put on at 75,000 miles. The price I can get it for is 13,000. 1st of all is that a good deal??? And 2nd, this being my first Audi, is this car reliable with the upgrades. I don't want to have to dump a **** load of money after I buy the car. Thanks!!!

stock psi on my car is 8-9. for that stage 3 that sounds a little cheap. it could be a good deal but with that much power going through the car its bound for ware and tare that will need to be replaced if it hasnt already.

wow so people are boosting their psi twice as it was stock..? I would keep mine around 11-13 just for some extra hp's and not too much damage on the turbo.

And for opening up the breathing... so modified exhausts, cold air intakes and bigger tb would also damage the life of a turbo?

Hi, I'm in the same boat as HotThrottle, I'm looking at a couple 01.5's but the information center on both cars are going bad. Are these simple/cheap to fix, or does Audi have a recall on them?

by the info center you mean on the dash? those you can send in to a certain company and they'll fix it for you for 200 dollars..you wont be able to drive your car for a couple days but it gets fixed. dont remember the name of the company though but someone here does.
