Default Looking at buying an 2004 S4

I went and test drove a 2004 S4 yesterday. I have been looking for a while and finally found the color, opitions, and price I'm looking for. The car has 38,000 miles on it but has some minor wear faded rear bumper, slight curb rash that was sprayed over with some silver spray paint on both driver side rims, and the alcantrasuede is all pulled on the driver seat. The dealer is going to take care of all the above before delivery. However my question is about the suede he told me they use an electric razer to shave a it down and then shampoo it. Does anyone have experince with this? How wells does it turn out?Everythingseems fine
mechanicallyhowever I did notice a slight whining sound coming from the engine when I let off the throttle is this normal?? Thanks Future S4 owner

the sweater de-fuzzer is what I used on my alcantera seats and it seemed to do a decent job with the "pilling", I've read elsewhere on this board that you can also use a magic eraser to get out dirt, but am not sure that i would shampoo the seats.

the slight whining sound you hear is likely the turbos...if it's more than just a slight sound, the turbos may be on their way out.

on some of the earlier 4.2 engines, guys have experienced a whine coming from the serpentine chain. if it sounds like it's coming from right infront ofthe firewall, that's probably what you're hearing. nothing bad, just something to get used to.

I appericate the tips....and on a side note if I couldn't differentiate the sound from a V6 twin turbo compared to a V8 I would have no business buying an S4.

If the whining is more on the drivers side in the middle, it could be the fuel pump. Not really too much of a problem, its just a big fuel pump. Mine always wines before I start the car and after I turn it off on my 454 7.4L suburban, but its a huge fuel pump to accommodate the 7.4L. I've hear this on a lot of other cars and several audis.

So what kind of deal are you getting on this S4 and was it a rental/ leased car? but i would be sceptical about it at first ujust because of all the little dings and scratches and curb rash you got going on there. Seems like owners neglect going on there.

With it being a newer low milage S4 make sure you wheel and deal your A$$ off to get your S4 CPO through audi or atleast get a really good warranty....

However with all the small scratches and neglect maybe your are getting it for a good price, but thats just my thoughts before you go ***** deep in a car that "might" have been abused by some kid that took out daddys rental/lease car, cause daddy didnt care he was getting a new car in a few months.

Well anyways, welcome to the boards just trying to help out and make sure you see the possible angles.
