Looking to determine a fair price: B5 S4 Avant
Hey there. I hope this is in the right place--this is my first post.
We have been looking aggressively for a few weeks for a B5 S4 (preferably an Avant) but just sold our A4 last week and now we close a deal.
A dealership near us has a 2001 with 82k miles on it--completely stock. It looks to be in great shape, and the water pump and timing belt were just done. Original turbos (we're buying it to mod anyhow). The asking price is 20% over KBB for "excellent" condition, and 30% over NADA and Edmunds. We're dealing in cash, and hoping that will help our case, but when I tried to talk to the guy on the phone, he wouldn't stop lamenting how great the car is.
I'm certainly aware of how rare they are, so I'm willing to give somewhat but I don't want to be a pushover. Any tips for determining a fair offer?
