Default Looking into getting an S4, what to look for?

Like the title says, I am looking to get an Audi S4, probably around a 2000 model. I currently drive an 01 Trans-Am WS6. I was wondering, what is there to look for and watch out for in the S4. It will be my first car like this, I've always driven coupes and never anything European yet. From some light reading I've done it seems the timing belts are an issue, what else is there?

Welcome!
Yes the TB and WP are issues. every 60-70K they should be replaced. I am having them done a 2nd time right now as my engine got pulled.
another handicap of these cars are the turbo's ; they will go at 60K or they could last until 150K or soemwhere in between. that is why when they blow, people go stage 3 which include better and more reliable K04 turbos.
They are great cars and I love mine. it is incredible in the snow, and it was as fast or probably faster than my dad's 2002 trans am ws6 and I was stage 2 (chip and exhaust). I am stage 3 as of today and it will blow it away.
Also there is a lot of maintenance with these cars. CA's and TRE's go and O2 sensors. lol. it's a love/hate relationship.

Thanks for the link!

Also the car is modded a little bit, has a chip, exhaust, BOV,and has had the timing belt and water pump changed. It is at 76,000 miles on it and is 6 speed. He is asking $12,500 for it, the car is black with black/suade interior. The dash is pixilated a bit however. Waht type of offer do you think I should make? I have seen these cars for sale on here from $9k for a 2000 to a 2000 for $17k

our cars do not run well on BOV's. they run lean with them because they blow out metered air. we have a closed loop system. if u get it replace them with DV's
12K for a car with 76K miles is a great deal! the dash does have a problem with the pixels.
try an get him down to 11 and see if he budges. why not try!

Yeah I read about the cars not running great with BOV's. He says the run runs great, just that all the warning lights are on for some reason, which is another one of my concerns.

CEL's are check engine lights. they come on quite frequently and u can Vagcom them for fault codes.
having the bov's could be a reason for them on.
