I am looking to purchase a 1995 1/2 S6 wagon . . . wondering if anyone knows of any problems that are specific to this year and model (1995 1/2 S6 wagon).

Check the power steering pump and check for any cracks in the steering rack. Make sure all maitinence has een completed and that a timing belt job was done every 70k or so. The engines in these cars are pretty much BULLETPROOF so you shouldnt have to worry about the internals, unless the car was neglected.

If the car is black or red, check for paint oxidization, as it is common on those colors.

I hope you get it! It would be nice to have a fellow S6'r on this board

here is a good link that will describe what you are asking far better than i ever could!

Thank you for your quick response. My wife and I just took it for a test drive. The seller is replacing the steering rack, there was a leak. 65K, pearl white, no mods. I just cut him a check for $7600.00 I think its a fair deal. Thank you for your help. Now... about mods.. what are your suggestions? Starting with the most bang for your buck and so on????? P.S. Where are you located?? We are in Colorado.

You got a great deal! Mine has over 100k more miles than yours does, and I paid more. With these cars though, miles don't really matter at all - the more miles, the more it was actually driven and (hopefully) cared for. The lower the miles, the more time that the car sat over 13 years. Mine was perfectly cared for, has the rare black leather and was very tastefuly modded.

I would personally get it chipped. There is so much hidden potential in the stock setup that is just begging to be unlocked. As long as your stock turbo is healthy you should be able to run as aggressive of a chip as I am right now. I'm riding at about 315+ (if I can keep the heatsoak lady away!) crank horsepower at 26 psi, up from stock at 227 on the stock turbo at 14 psi, manifolds, and internals. The tuning the previous owner did was about $900 - fairly pricy but great, reliable power.

there are a couple options for the chip
034 motorsport has a good option, as well as tons of parts & performance upgrades - http://www.034motorsport.com/index.php?cPath=28_63_73

TAP has a couple stages that you can check out - http://www.tap1.com/catalog/product_...products_id=32

Intended Acceleration is local (WA) and where mine was done, although mine is custom tuned but i'm sure you could work a similar setup out - http://www.intendedacceleration.com/pricing.html

IMPORTANT THING - The stock boost hoses were not really intended for higher than stock levels of boost and are prone to tearing even though the engine can handle up to 40 psi. One weak point is the hose that comes off the intercooler then into the engine. It looks kind of like the michelin man and is commonly referred to as the "michelin man hose." Before any upgrades I would upgrade to stronger silicone boost hoses. I went with samco sport hoses, but I know there are other options out there. They can be had on the cheap if you look.

EDIT - I'm located in Portland, Oregon - I guess we are somewhat close! Post pics as soon as you can I love the S6 avants!!
