loose seat
Remove the seat from the car, 2 allen bolts i believe in the front, and you have to take off the 2 trim pieces behind the seat on the floor covering the rails. tilt the seat back, roll it towards the rear, and lift up and out. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE SEAT HARNESSES FIRST!!!
I finally got a chance to do this, but it doesn't seem to help; my seat still rocks fwd & bwd if I pull/push on the steering wheel. I used the ECS bushing set, but couldn't find where the clear front bushing goes, so I didn't install that one. Does anybody know where it goes, or have a diagram?
I have the same problem and found the following post, just haven't gotten around to trying it yet:

So the seat removal wasn't as painful as suggested in the link above? The details for thatcan also be found in a reply to the above thread here:

I'd be interested to hear how well this works for you if you try it.

Yeah it wasn't bad at all. I think I had it completely loose in like 5-10 mins. You just have to remove the front & rear plastic covers, and then slide the seat backwards until it comes off the rails. I didn't take it out though, just tipped it forward so that the head rest stuck between the sun visor & windshield. It was real easy to work on, and that way I didn't risk getting grease anywhere.
FWIW, I wasn't a big fan of the duct tape option. There is no way that the tape will hold up as well as nylon/plastic bushings (long-term wise), and for $9 I figured fvck it! I just can't figure out where that damn front bushing goes...

the front bushing goes in the front junction above where the pin gets inside a hole, it actually lift's the whole seat...maybe it's different in your car I have A4 b5 1998. I guess everybody forget about removing the front pin so that the seat can slide all the way back and get out.
I have also a good idea instead of filling it with tape we could use foil or teflon tape.
