Default Lowering

Just curious if you guys have any advice on lowering an S4. I'm looking into getting 19's and was curious as to whether or not I will need to lower it to kill the wheel gap. Not really looking into performance right now, mainly cosmetics. I was really into racing with my previous car esp. autox, but after it was totaled I'm looking into getting into something a little different. Just curious on what your thoughts on that may be.

it will look like a 4x4 if you just get 19s... get some springs to lower it, but your best bet would be full H&R coilovers.

Agree the wheel gap will be more prominent when you put 19's on there. You do know that wheels that large wil compromise ride quality and performance right?

Yeah I understand all that...I've been tuning cars for 7 years now. I'm just new to the whole Audi/Euro scene. Anyway I know with the right tire and wheel combo you can compensate for the gap. Do you guys have any other suggestions? If I do end up lowering the car...which I really do want to avoid...how much should I lower it?

I have 19's on my 2001 S4, love em, cant beat that look, but yes you will need to lower it, an di fyou are looking for ride quality, get bilstein struts with H&R springs, best set up ever, not bouncy or hard, just perfect comfortable ride and it lowers it about 2 all the way around. Tires for the 19's, get 235/35/19, just watch for pot holes.
Good luck, you will love the look.

what is the offset on your 19's? also do you have any rubbing problems?

i was thinking of 19x8 and 235's on vogtland springs and koni shocks.
i really dont want to roll fenders.

2 inch drop with 19's, huh?

rub, rub, rub, rub-a-dub-rub

Cosmetics maybe.... until you start ripping up your tires and fender wells.

Performance at a 2 inch drop?....... Forget about it.

in New York, 19 inch and 2 inch drop = bent rims after 2 weeks and sctratched bumper on driveways/parking lot entrances/exits... or nice pothole on BQE.... not even talking about rubber. i had bubbles on 3 stock 17" Pirellies within 10K miles.
feel more bumps and ruttles just with rear sway bar. going springs and struts seems too much for local roads.
looks nice, but dangerous. i would not go past 18".
