Hello All,

I bought an '01 S4 last month and it needs some TLC. First off is the MAF sensor. I'm getting a CEL that is telling me the MAF is bad. From the research I've done, there were two different MAFs used on the model year. How do I know if I need the Hitachi or Bosch unit. I'm sure there is a way to determine that from my VIN#, but I don't know how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to do a full tune up on the car. This is my first Audi, so I'm not sure if there are some things I should inspect to make sure they aren't in need of changing at this time. The car has 73K miles. It is going to the shop next month for a timing belt replacement. I will buy a timing belt kit from one of the vendors that included water pump, tensioner, timing belt, etc. While it is in the shop, I want to do a fullt tune up. Please list the parts that I should order when doing a full tune up on these cars.

If you look at the sensor it will on it Bosh, or Hitachi. The Bosh units plug looks like a U.

Tune up stuff, plugs, all filters oil, intake, cabin, Fluids, oil, trans, diffs, & if your doing the TB, get coolant.
If you have any oil leaks, chances are you need to do the valve cover gaskets.

Thank you very much for the info and pics. I've already done the oil, tranny, and diff fluids. Thankfully, there are no leaks.

Anyplace in particular you guys buy your tune uo parts on the 'net? What is the preferance on coolant for our vehicles?

The Coolant HAS TO BE G12, either from a VW, Porsche or Audi dealer.
I get a lot of my parts from ECS, where the pics came from .
