Hello, I am looking to buy a 2004 s4 to mod. I'm not the one to beat the crap out of my car but I love to have fun with it so I want to mod it. What are some good mods to do to it, and if its possible can it be twin turbocharged like the rs6? Any info is greatly apreciated.

 

You could get an exhaust and a chip. As far as twin turbo's, thats not really an option. the s4 engine compartment is much smaller than the a6. You would need to do some serious rearanging to get everything to fit. Custom manifolds would also be necessary. Not to mention that you would have to rebuild the engine to lower the compression ratio. A better mod would be to swap in an rs4 powerplant. Wont be cheap but youd be in the same hp ballpark.

 

a full exhaust with down pipes from milltek = 40hp (at the wheels)
Intake = 10hp
chip = 10hp

So like 60Hp can be made at the wheels for around 4 grand, thats like 75ish at the crank, so that puts ya at almost 420Hp. Still not RS6 territoy but its a start. If thats not enough power for you and you've got the cash check this out http://www.mtm-online.de/en/audi_tuning_S4B6253Q.html this gives you 450Hp, just like the RS6.

I don't think the gains are cumulative, so it won't be 400 hp.
Check out the b6 s4 shoot-out, which posts hp gained for a variety of tuned b6 s4s. If I recall correctly, the best was ~ 25-30 hp gain at the crank with full exhaust, CAI and chip.

 

What about gains with just a catback? Maybe 10HP?

Has anyone dyno tested just a simple, non-warranty voiding mod like this?
