MPG compare STI vs. B5 S4
My friend has his STI costs him 18L/100kms with very soft drive.
what I have known was STI has two turbo with 2.4L engine.
which implies the 2.7 biturbo should take more gas isn't it? (with same way of drive respectively)

The STi has a single turbo 2.5L 4 cylinder.
The Biturbo S4 has a Twin turbo 2.7l V6.
Fuel econemy is very similar, The S4 can hit 30+ on the highway and regularly does 23-25mpg average. STI loks to be about the same. A stock STI runs more boost than a stock S4, while other factors have a large effect, greater PSI means denser air which needs more fuel. So while the displacement is lower (only by .2 L) it all kind fo balences out. If you get on the throttle on either one of these cars your MPG is going to drop to low teens or single digits. But i cant name one as more or less fuel efficient

but you are saying S4 can get 23-25mpg that's impossible
let's convert mpg to l/km, 23mpg=10L/100kms which even as the same as my 99 GOLF.
and my friend's STI can never had achieved 10L/100km, if so he may unstopalbe laughing..... and so do I.
he told me he shift below 2000rmp even can only get 14L/100kms wich roughly equals to 16.7mpg....
the convert tool i found it from here: http://www.fadainc.com/mpg_100l.html
According to MSN Autos:
2001 Audi S4
==========
City - 17 MPG
Highway - 24 MPG
2004 Subaru WRX STi
================
City - 18 MPG
Highway - 24 MPG
Haha it's actually kinda funny, I thought an STi would have us beat in the mileage department...

i get pretty good mileage. my comp usually puts me at about 21 or 22 city because i coast A LOT and i keep it at like 1800 rpms. and highway i usually get between 26 and 28 mpg. i havnt been able to do an actual calculation using tank miles and fill ups because my fuel gauge tells me im empty when i have about a quarter tank left. i guess its just really cautious, doesnt want to be left on the side of the highway haha.
LOL I'd be SO happy to get anywhere close to that kind of mpg. Granted I've got a heavy foot, but I average about 15mpg. Even going easy on the freeway the best I've done is around 20. With gas up to ~$4 I spend about 20 bucks a DAY.
