So I was headed home the other nightafter some Texas No-hold 'em with the boys (3:30am), when I hear/see a Mustang weaving through traffic ahead of me. So considering I just got chipped a little bit ago, I was horny for some action and decided to pursue. I finally catch him and see that it was a 06-07' GT with dark tints, full exhaust, rims, wide tiresand suspension (he might've had more, but I couldn't tell). Regardless, it was loud as hell so I'm assuming the exhaust was atleast from the headers back. So I roll up on the guy, and just like that he down shifts twice(to 2nd?) and slows down to about 25-30mph... So I follow suit, give three honks, and we're off. Right away he gets a tiny jump on me and grabs about an1/8-car, but I immediatelytake it right back and pulla full-car until we hit light traffic (middle of 3rd gear?). So we slow,get around the two cars ahead, and do another roll from the same speed. I get him again like 3/4-car until we hit a stop light together. "Perfect!", I say... The light goes green, and Ijump out of the hole on him by almost 3/4 of-a-car. I pull a little more but he holds me there until about the middle of third again where we let off again. This time I get him by about 1.5-cars. The guy (kid)finally rolls up on me to ask what I've got, where I reply: "Just two turbos and a chip ". He said he "just had an exhaust", but I think he had a little more cause he was reallyconfused/pissed. I could see his buddy in the passenger seat laughing his *** off!

FWIW, I was pretty pleased with the results. I hardly ever street race, and certainly don't condone it, but it was super late and the streets were nearly empty. That Mustang was really loud and pulled hard as hell, so I have to admit that it was really fun! I could tell that an exhaust would help me a bunch more.

Does anyone know what kind of numbers these cars put down at the track (with similar mods)?

Newer Gt's stock run high 13's with a good driver. And obviously slower with a mediochre driver. With mods he had should be capable of mid 13's (13.6-7) The big advantage the s4's have are the gears. Final drive ratio in the gt's is like 3.55 vs 4.11

 

^cool - So maybe with some exhaust and couple more Stage II parts I should be in the low 13's. niiiccccccce!
