Default Need New Engine

Hey all... wish I could come to you under better circumstances, but..... All my sources unfortunately say the engine is done and the car is in Korea, so an engine there can cost $50-60k to replace. Anyone know of any sources here, preferably in South FL or online, for trustworthy engines that maybe I can ship over there? Any info would help, thanks!

A V8 long block w/o exhaust, intake manifolds or alternator will run you 11718.75 plus core of 4000.00 dollars. A short block will run you 7317.19 plus 1500.00 core. You'd get the core charge back providing it meets core policy per Audi. We should go over that if you are interested. Plus shipping which might be best to go to a freight forwarder. So I'll guess at 250-400 dollars shipping within the USA to a freight forwarder. What they would charge to send to you is between you and them. We don't use any one particular place at this time so I have no recommendations for you. The last time I shipped an engine from us directly to China (took about 2-3 weeks to get to him) it ran close to 1200.00 dollars. Like in your case, an engine over there was going to cost the customer at least triple what it would here, but that was 4 years ago.

If we can help out further please let us know. Thanks!

Check craigslist, or call south Florida salvage yards. You should be able to get a low milage engine complete shipped to you for around 5k. (not 3/4 the cost of the car as mentioned above) you may even find one that has been rearended and have the whole thing shipped and part it out to cover your losses, if parts are at such a premium over there.

I don't own an Audi. I'd love to have just about any series S4 though, especially 01 on up. I had a street bike but lowsided that. My first street crash in 27 years since I started riding. I have a Mitsubishi Evo and a Toyota truck to haul my dirt bike around.

I only wanted to quote the engine, knowing dealer prices is sometimes helpful, sometimes comical. I try to lean towards helpful as much as I can. The shipping outside the USA is a killer though.

Comical is right, IMO used would be the way to go on a car that currently can be obtained for 25k with reasonable miles, I also understand that you work for Audi and have to put your parts out there. As far as owning an Audi goes your really missing out, I personally will never buy a car that isn't German ever again, they are the highest quality automobiles out there, and ive seen a few stage 3 B5 S4s that would give your bike a run for it's money. Thanks for the response.

Thanks guys, let me first check if it is long or short.... it is actually my cousin's in Korea, so I am helping him out.

And totally agreed on the German car thing... I am a patriot here, but that has nothing to do with driving these cars. I personally drive a 3-series, and personally, it "drives" a lot better than the S4 which I handled when I was over there... the steering did not have the feel ad pinpoint control of my 328i, not even close, and felt heavier too. The xtra power was nice, but I value control better. The only reason my cousin chose it over the BMW was because of the hills and snow there... but he may give into a BMW if he has to trash this car... we'll see. One time I test drove a CTS sports model, and that thing still handled like a boat, worse than the S4.
