Ok, so I am looking at buying an S4. I only want a 2000 or 2001 though. And I don't have a ton of money. So I've been checking out a 2000 S4 with 155,000 miles on it. The ABS and check engine light is on, my dad has a tech tool that will be able to read what the code. The owner said that he believes that it is an O2 sensor, cause whenever you give it lots of gas you smell a little exhaust, most likely coming from the CAT. But, since I am not a previous S4 owner I want to know what you guys think about buying a higher mileage S4. Do you think that the car has little life left and I would just be wasting my time buying it. Its going to be my commuter car. Any help would be appreciated. Oh yea, I am not a complete Audi B5 newb, my dad owns a 2001 A4. But I know the engine is different. Thanks. Derek.

 

READ THE FAQ!!!

The ABS controller is likely bad, & will need to be replaced. You need to check the codes, I bet it's much more then A o2.

The motor is fine, it's all the other things that will fail.
