Default Never go to jiffy lube!

So i brought my newly acquired Stage 3 to Jiffy lube which was so dumb. Anyway, put mobile 1 5w40 in it. I left, everything was fine. Drove home, no problems. I leave my house 20 minutes later, get a mile away and the CEL comes on. Then an Oil warning.

So i idled and coasted to a stop. Checked the oil and there was NONE!

Had to get it flatbedded to a gas station, got it up on a lift... oil was EVERYWHERE. It appears that some Dumba$$ put on the wrong size filter! Thats what appears to be the cause but ill have to wait until the AM. I cant get a filter anywhere, everything is closed.

Jiffy charged me $100 for it, tow bill was $90, and the new oil change will be another $100. I pray that nothing is wrong with the car though, otherwise this will get ugly.

Bottom line: Never go to Jiffy lube, EVER.

By the way, what oil filter do you guys suggest I get?

Man, I wouldn't pay them ****!
And you can be damn sure I'd be getting a refund.
Whatver you do don't sign any papers excusing them from a future lawsuit until you know everything is alright.
Make them pay for everything if they don't cooperate then contact their corporate offices.
Don't get a lawyer involved unless you absolutely need to.

Another common/oversite is, while removing the old filter the filter gasket stays on the sandwich plate. if the mechanic doesnt notice it and twists on another filter......now you have 2 gaskets and oil everywhere. I worked as a mechanic for several years and seen this happen alot. (even did it myself a time or 2).
The good news is, you would be surprised how long a car can run without oil with little to no damage.
Was the car knocking bad before you shut it off?

damn dude, you really shouldnt pay a cent, ask for a full refund and for them to pay for the tow and the new oil change, its all their fault, im sure they would do it.

i only ever take my car to either an audi dealer or a german car specialist shop, never had problems that way, might want to just do that

Seriously man, don't pay them any more money, and like others have said -- make them pay for everything! Both oil changes, the tow truck, DAMAGES if there are any. And make them clean the undercarriage up nicely. That little stunt can easily end up being a multi-thousand dollar mistake. Good thing you caught it.

As far as filters, I use the OEM Mann filters. I believe they contain a positive pressure valve to keep the oil up inside the turbo lines. I use the oversized Mann filters from vast -- they're cheap. I think the price is $40 shipped for 5 of them.

It's unfortunate that Mobil doesn't make a filter that fits the 2.7

same thing happened to me but at EZ Lube. they paid for everything. the tow from 30miles away, the oil and a new K and N oil filter. (the greddy oil cooler uses a different filter then stock) I raised hell when i got back to their shop. I also got a coupon for a free oil change. Do not let them get away w/ that $h!t. you shouldn't pay a dime. It wasn't your fault!
