New B7 S4
Just picked up a new 2006 S4, 6MT, nav, premium, XM, etc. to replace my B6 S4 6MT. The dealer took 10K off sticker to move the unit, so I could not pass it up. Arctic White with ebony interior. Great dealer experiance.
Seems to drive quite differently than my old B6. Steering feels different, more precise somehow. Much firmer ride than the '05. Also at first the clutch take-up on shift was more harsh - kind of jerky on shifting - but after a few miles I got the feeling of it and it smoothed out. Throttle / clutch seems better from zero speed so maybe there was an improvement in throttle control logic since the B6.
I never had a car with nav before, but it took about 30 min to get totally addicted...
Now I need to decide which exhaust to fit...and intake...

Hey has u B7 got the engine/chain whine like u B6 yet?
Before I bought this car I test drove several other new S4, auto and manual, they all made the chain noise. Its the one no-good aspect to this car, but indeed it is "normal"...
you kidding me? I love that noise, any gear head loves gear whine, race fuel smell, burned rubber after a hard track day, etc.
My motorcycle has gear driven cams, and Honda puts silencers on them....just about everyone that I know with the bike at the race track takes them off so we can hear the full song of em, doesnt get any better....It's kind of like the sound of a dry clutch on a Ducati, only gear heads love and apprecicate it, everyone else thinks it sounds like sometyhing its broken. Everytime I start my S4 in the morning, that gear noise reminds me I bought something different.

drsus, you make a very good point. Hadn't thought about it in those terms. Now that I have the right frame of mind, I will rev the engine to make a bit more noise when people turn and look.
